Saharsa : In an unprecedented development in Saharsa district on January 21, an ambulance driver dropped body of one Sanjeev Sharma, 18, he was carrying to Saharsa for post-mortem, on NH 107 near Purani Bazaar and sped away towards Saharsa with three injured triggering strong protest from the villagers who blocked the road and pelted cops with stones when they reached there to pacify them. The locals were demanding immediate action against the ambulance driver. SDO Suman Prasad Sah assured them of quick action against the driver.

Sanjeev was returning after participating in Human Chain formation at Simribakhtiarpur on a cycle with his friend when a bike rider collided with his cycle while avoiding a truck on Simbakhtiarpur – Saharsa road. Sanjeev and his friend as well as the two bike riders were injured in the head on collision between the bike and cycle and were rushed to Sub-divisional hospital, Simribakhtiarpur, but Sanjeev died on way. The doctors referred the injured to Saharsa by an   ambulance with Sanjeev’s body. But, the driver dropped the body on road near Purani Bazaar.

Sanjeev was a resident of Sharma Chowk under Simribakhtiarpur Nagar Panchayat while both the injured bike riders are natives of village Sabaitha. Sanjeev’s mother, a Jeevika worker, had also participated in human chain but had returned home while her son was returning on cycle with his friend.
