Patna : South Korean teenage sensation A N Se Young, the World No 16, stunned reigning Olympic Champion and three-time former World Champion Carolina, 26, Spain, in the final to lift the women’s singles title at Yonex French Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Paris, France, on October 27, 2019, evening. It is her 5th career title. Young bagged 11,000 BWF ranking points plus the cash award while Carolina got 9,350 ranking points besides the cash award.

Young, 17, beat World No 17 Carolina 16-21, 21-18, 21-5 in 69 minutes in the final battling back from one game down. Young won 58 rallies in the match to 44 by Carolina, who has won 29 career titles. Young won 12 consecutive points in the match to 6 by the Spaniard. Young was all over Carolina in the third game. The two players are now locked 1-1 Head to Head. Carolina had won World Championship title in 2014, 2015, and 2018 and Olympic Gold Medal in 2016.
