Nawada: A member of Musahar community was lynched by some Pansagga villagers under Kauakol police station (PS) in Nawada district on February 20, 2018, morning. The deceased was identified as Mundrika Manjhi who was killed while returning from morning call of nature along with another villager Chhote Manjhi, who managed to remain
alive.

However, the lynching failed to draw the attention of former Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary who visited village Apsarh the same day to inquire into the killing of Talo Manjhi, a daily wage labourer from Usahri tola of Apsarh village under Warisaliganj PS, on FEbruary 12, 2018, but was roughed up by irate Apsarh residents for reaching the village with a political motive to allegedly malign the BJP MLA Aruna Devi at the behest of local district JD (U) leaders.

According to the injured Chhote Manjhi, while he and Mundrika Manjhi were returning from morning ablution, fellow villager Upendra Yadav and 6 other associates attacked them with lathis. While Mundrika died on the spot, he survived. Agitated villagers blocked
Pakribarma-Kauakol road in protest. The blockade was lifted after Kauakol PS SHO Sanjit Kumar assured to arrest the accused. The killing was the result of an earlier altercation between Upendra Yadav and Mundrika Manjhi after the latter had allegedly stocked mud on
the plot of Upendra Yadav.
