Patna : Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa quit from his post ahead of the trust vote after delivering an emotional speech during which he admitted he does not have the numbers. Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the chief minister on May 17, 2018.

The BJP had emerged as the largest single party with 104 seats in the 224 Karnataka Assembly. The polls were held to 222 seats. Obviously, BJP failed to manage support of 7 more legislators. It is a big victory of Congress – Janata Dal ( Secular) combine as it succeeded in keeping its members together even as attempts were allegedly made to lure some of them away. Yeddyurappa had repeatedly claimed he will win the trust vote.
