Wozniacki, Svitolina win Group Stage matches in WTA finals at Singapore

Patna : World No 3 in WTA rankings Caroline Wozniacki, 28, and World No 7 Elina Svitolina, 24, Ukraine, won their respective Grope Stage matches in WTA finals at Singapore on October 23, 2018.

Defending Champion Wozaniacki, who had lost her first Group Stage match to World No 8 Karolina Pliskova, 26, Czech Republic, on October 21, 2018, beat two-time former Wimbledon Champion and World No 5 Petra Kvitova, 28, Czech Republic, in a very tough contest 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 at Singapore Indoor Stadium, on October 23. Wozniacki served 3 Aces in the match to 2 by Kvitova, who committed 3 double faults. Both the players won 3 games each in a row. Wozniacki won 6 break points to 5 by Kvitova in the match.

Svitolina, who  had defeated Kvitova in her first Group Stage match on October 21, defeated Pliskova in three-sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 on October 23. Svitolina served * aces in the match to 6 byKvitova.
