Patna : World No 2 in WTA rankings and top seed Caroline Wozniacki, 27, Denmark, and World No 45 Aryna Sabalenka, 20, Belarus, reached the final of Eastbourne International tennis tournament on June 29, 2018.
Wozniacki defeated World No 11 and winner of two Grand Slam titles Angelique Kerber, 30, Germany, in a three set thriller 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the semi-finals. Wozniacki hammaered 5 Aces while Kerber fired only 2 Aces. Wozniacki, however, committed 3 double faults to 2 by Kerber. Kerber won three break points while Wozniacki won two.
Sabalenka too took three-sets to defeat World No 31 Agnieszka Radwankska, 29, Poland, in the semi-finals. Sabalenka beat Radwanska 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, to enter the final. Sabalenka, however, committed 6 double faults in the match to none by Radwanska. Both the players won 7 breaks points each. Sabalenka’s winning percentage on both first and second serve was better than her rival.
