Patna : Winner of 23 Grand Slam singles titles Serena Williams, USA, advanced to the women’s singles 3rd round of  Wimbledon Championships at All England Club, London, UK, on July 4, 2019, beating World No 133 Kaja Juvan, 18, Slovenia,  in a tough three-set contest. Serena defeated Kaja 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 coming from behind. Serena fired 7 Aces in the match to 4 by Kaja. She won 4 break points to 3 by Kaja.

But, reigning Wimbledon Champion Angelique Kerber, 31, Germany, crashed out of the tournament losing to World No 95 Lauren Davis, 25, USA, in three-sets. Davis beat Kerber 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the 2nd round.
