World No 52 Kyrgios stuns top seed Tsitsipas to reach City Open final

Patna : World No 52 Nick Kyrgios, 24, Australia, and World No 10 Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, will clash in the men’s singles final of City Open, Washington, USA, an ATP 500 points tournament.

Kyrgios edged past top seed and World No 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas,  20, Greece, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in 2 hr 7 minutes in the semi-finals. The Australian hammered 19 Aces in the match to 14 by Tsitsipas. Both the players won 2 break points each. Kyrgios won 64 service points to 65 by Tsitsipas. The Australian won 3 games in a row in the match to 5 by Tsitsipas. It was the first meeting between the two players.

Kyrgios will face 3rd seed Medvedev in the final. The Russian brushed aside lucky loser Peter Gojowczyk, 30, Germany, the World No 122,  6-2, 6-2 in 55 minutes in the semi-finals. The Russian won 5 break points to just 1 by the German. Medvedev won 31 service points to 18 by the German. The Russian won 5 games in a row to 2 by the German.
