Patna : World No 49 Frances Tiafoe, 23, USA, sent top seed & World No 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 23, Greece, packing out of the ATP Erste Bank Open ( Vienna Open) at Vienna, Austria, on October 28, 2021, night, defeating him in 2nd round in a three-set slugfest. Tiafoe beat Tsitsipas 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 1hr 49 minutes in 2nd round rallying back from one set down to advance to the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 indoor hardcourt tournament.

Tiafoe won 3 break points during he match to 2 by the World No 3 Tsitsipas. The American also won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by the Greek, who committed 6 double faults. Tsitsipas, however, hammered 11 Aces during the match to only 3 by Tiafoe, who will face 8th seed Diego Schwartzman, 29, Argentina, in QF on October 29, 2021, at 9pm.  World No 16 Schwartzman defeated World No 21 Gael Monfils, 35, France, in three-sets 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 in 2nd round.

Second seed & World No 4 Alexander Zverev, 24, Germany, however, advanced to the QFs defeating World No 32  Alex de Minaur, 22, Australia, in three-sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 in 1hr 42 minutes in 2nd round. Zverev hammered 17 Aces during the match to just 1 by Minaur. The German won 4 break points during the match to 1 by the Australian. Both the olayers won 3 games each in a row during the match.

Zverev will face 6th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, 21, Canada, in QF on October 29, 2021, at 7 pm.  World No 12 Aliassime beat World No 14 Cameron Norrie, 26, UK, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 in 2nd round coming from behind. Aliassime fired 13 Aces during the match to 6 by Norrie. The Canadian, however, committed 9 double faults during the match to 2 by Norrie.
