World No 38 Marketa Vondousova enters SFs of French Open

Patna : World No 38 in WTA rankings Marketa Vondrousova, 19, Czech Republic, beat World No 31 Petra Martic, 28, Croatia, in quarter-finals (QFs) on June 4, 2019, late night, at Roland Garros, Paris, France, to enter the semi-finals of French Open. Marketa beat Martic in straight sets 7-6, 7-5 in the quarter-finals to reach semi-finals of a Grand Slam event for the first time.

Marketa won 5 break points to 4 by Martic. She won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by the Croatian. Marketa won 46 service points to 42 by Martic. Marketa’s winning percentage on both her first and second serve ( 59 % & 68 %) was higher than that of Martic ( 57 % & 39 %). Martic had reached 4th round of Australian Open in 2018 and that of Wimbledon in 2017. Marketa will face World No 26 Johanna Konta, 28, UK, in the women’s semi-finals on June 6, 2019.
