Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings and top seed Kento Momota, Japan, crashed out of Blibli Indonesia Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 tournament at Jakarta, Indonesia, suffering a shock defeat at the hands of World No 29 Huang Yu Xiang, 26, China, in the second round on July 18, 2019.
Huang stunned Momota in a three-game thriller 21-16, 11-21, 21-18 in 74 minutes in the second round in the biggest upset in the men’s singles at Istoria Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Indonesia, to enter the men’s singles quarter-finals of the tournament. Momota though won 55 rallies in the match to 53 by Huang. Momota also won 9 consecutive points to 6 by Huang. Momota had taken 12-8 lead in the first game but finally lost the game.The two players are now locked 2-2 Head to Head.
