Patna : World No 2 and 4th seed Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, and World No 3 & 3rd seed Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, will clash in the final of Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament, at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo, Japan, on July 28, 2019. The winner of the tournament will get 11,000 points while the runner-up will get 9,350 points.

Yamaguchi beat World No 4 and 2nd seed Chen Yu Fei, China, 21-15, 21-15 in 43 minutes in the semi-finals on July 27, 2019, at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo. She won 42 rallies in the match to 30 by Yu Fei. Yamaguchi won 7 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Yu Fei. Yamaguchi now leads Yu Fei 10-6 Head to Head.

Okuhara, the 2017 World Champion, beat World No 14 Michelle Li, Canada, 21-12, 21-18 in 47 in the semi-finals to reach the final. Okuhara won 42 rallies in the match to 30 by Li. She won 7 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Li. Okuhara now leads Li 6-2 Head to Head.
