Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Tai Tzu Ying, Taiwan, World No 3 Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, World No 6 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, and World No 9 Michelle Li, Canada, entered the women’s singles quarter-finals of Korea Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event, at Incheon, South Korea, on September 26, 2019.

Third seed Tai Tzu Ying beat World No 18 Cai Yan Yan, China, 21-11, 21-11 in only 26 minutes in Round of 16 to advance to the QFs. Tai Tzu won 42 rallies in the match to 22 by Yan Yan. She won 7 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Yan Yan. Tai Tzu now leads Yan Yan 2-0 Head to Head.

Okuhara, the 2017 World Champion, beat World No 10 Sung Ji Hyun, South Korea, 21-13, 21-18 in 48 minutes in Round of 16. Okuhara won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Hyun. Okuhara won 6 consecutive points to 3 by Hyun. Okuhara now leads Hyun 6-4 Head to Head.

Intanon,the 6th seed, beat World No 26 Aya Ohori, Japan, 21-4, 21-13 in only 32 minutes to enter the QFs. Intanon won 42 rallies in the match to 17 by Ohori. She won 10 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Ohori. Intanon now leads Ohori 2-0 Head to Head.

Li beat World N0 11 Beiwen Zhang, USA, in a three-game thriller 21-15, 8-21, 21-10 in 47 minutes in Round of 16. Li won 50 rallies in the match to 46 by Zhang. She won 9 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Zhang. Li now leads Zhang 4-3 Head to Head. Zhang had stunned World Champion P V Sindhu, India, in the 1st round on September 25, 2019.
