Patna : World No 1 Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, and World No 3 Chen Yu Fei, 21, China, will clash in the final of Fuzhou China Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Haixia Olympic Sports Centre, Fuzhou, China, on November 10, 2019.
Okuhara, the 4th seed, entered the final after her semi-finals opponent and top seed Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, retired due to injury trailing 6-11. World No 2 Tai Tzu had won the first game 21-19. Okuhara won the second game 21-12. Tai Tzu still leads Okuhara 6-5 Head to Head.
Third seed and All England Open Champion Chen Yu Fei edged past World No 8 Michelle Li, 28, Canada, in a three-game thriller lasting 71 minutes in the semi-finals. Chen beat Li 20-22, 21-8, 21- 17 battling back from a game down. Chen won 62 rallies in the match to 47 by Li. She won 10 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Li. Chen now leads Li 4-1 Head to Head.
Chen had defeated World No 5 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, in the QFs on November 8, 2019, while Okuhara had defeated World No 7 He Bing Jiao, China, in QFs the same day.
