Ara : A day long workshop on “Farmers and Self-dependence—Opportunities and Challenges” was organised jointly under Antyodaya Chetana Mandal and Antyodaya Radhe-Krishna Kisan Club Nagari on the suggestion of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), at Nagari under Charpokhari block in Bhojpur District on January 10, 2021.

Senior Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ara, Dr P K Dwiwedi, DDM, NABARD, Ranjeet Sinha, LDM, PNB J K Verma, BDO, Charpokhari, Vibhesh Anand, and Director, RSETI, Satyendra Kumar, jointly inaugurated the workshop by lighting the candle. The meeting was conducted by Ram Nath Thakur,  Secretary, Antyodaya Chetana Mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr P K Dwiwedi said that complete self-dependence through traditional farming is a challenge today and so farmers should go for pisciculture, poultry farming, vegetable production, fruits production, ranching, egg production, multiplication of milch cattle rearing, organic farming as per the environment and demand besides going for marketing by forming groups. It would create more  opportunities for employment and also yield regular income on weekly and monthly basis to the farmers, he said.

Releasing posters on Clean India Campaign, Ranjeet Sinha said that NABARD said it was essential to make lavatory in each and every house but it is more essential to use them. He said that open defecation invites diseases particularly among women and children that hampers development.

Satyendra Kumar, Director, RSETI, said that farmers may establish their business by attending different commercial training camps and the bank will help them in their venture.
