Woman, three sons sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a man

Giridih: A Giridih court in Jharkhand on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment  a 50 year old woman and her three sons for beating her brother to death about 5 years ago. The convicts include Devanti Devi, Bitul Kol, Badku Kol and Chhotku Kol, the residents of Baniyadih.

 According to the FIR lodged with the Muffasil Police station on October 21, 2011, deceased Ganesh Kol was brutally assaulted by his sister Devanti Devi and her three sons to death at Baniyadih under Giridih muffasil police station. The case was lodged by the deceased’s wife Asha Devi, who is the sister of Devanti’s husband.“A normal argument had occurred before the incident on the construction of a diwali gharonda which  Devanti had opposed. She along with her three sons attacked Ganesh with sticks and stones. He died on the spot,” the FIR said.

“All have been convicted under sections 302 and 34 of IPC for murder and committing crime by a group of people with common intention respectively,” said APP Mahendra Deo adding that the court of district and session judge – 5, Sunil Kumar Singh, slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them.
