Ara : Newly married Sonali Kumari was strangulated to death allegedly by her in-laws for a gold chain and gold ring at village Bhadsar under Piro police station in Bhojpur district on June 14, 2017, night. Police recovered the body when her in-laws were trying to cremate her and brought it to Ara Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The post-mortem was performed on June 15 morning.
Sonali Kumari, daughter of Umesh Singh of Dhanauti village under Masaurhi police station in Patna district, was married to Amarjeet Kumar, son of Jairam Chaudhary of village Bhadsar under Piro police station, on March 5, 2017, and was ever since being tortured for a gold chain and ring by her in-laws. When their demands were not fulfilled, her in-laws allegedly strangulated her to death. No FIR was lodged till the filling of this report. SHO Piro police station said that an FIR will be lodged after thorough investigation.
