Sasaram : A named FIR has been lodged with Rohtas Women’s police station on the statement of a married woman against her in-laws and husband  for throwing her out of the house asking her to bring Rs 90 lakh from her parents for purchasing a flat in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Police are investigating the matter.

SHO, Rohtas Women’s police station, Madhuri Kumari, quoting the FIR,  said that Shaili Gupta of Akbarpur in Rohtas District was married to Rahul Shankar of Bengaluru on December 6, 2020. Two months after the marriage, her in-laws and even husband started torturing her for Rs. 90 lakh in dowry so that they could purchase a flat in Bengaluru. As the financial condition of her father was not good, he refused to fulfil the irdemands.

Her father went to Bengaluru and requested her in-laws not to torture her but to no avail and they continued to torture and at last sent her to Patna on June 17, 2021, by air with her father paying the fare. Rahul Shankar along with his brother-in-law (bahanoi) Rohit came to Akabarpur on July 18, 2021, and threatened her that he would marry with another girl if she failed to manage Rs 90 lakh. Finding no way out, Shaili Gupta lodged a named FIR against her in-laws and husband with police.
