Ara : A woman, mother of two minor children, was burnt to death at her in-laws’ place for dowry and the body was disposed of with a view to erasing the evidence at village Bisambhara under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur district on June 6, 2020.
A named FIR has been lodged by Gadhani police station against four persons including the husband of the deceased on the statement of her mother Bataso Devi. Police arrested father-in-law of the deceased Ram Dayal Singh and sent him to jail after interrogation. Police are investigating the matter.
SHO, Gadhani police station, Sazid Hussain, quoting the FIR, said that Chandani Devi, 25, daughter of Badri Yadav of village Kalyanpur under Sinha police outpost, was married to Durgesh Kumar of village Bisambhara under Sinha police outpost in 2016. Ever since her marriage, she was allegedly being tortured both physically and mentally merely for dowry though her parents had fulfilled all the demands of her in-laws at the time of marriage.
