Ara : Rita Devi, wife of Dhanji Bind, was strangulated to death at her in-laws’ place at village Gaura under Bahoranpur police outpost in Bhojpur District for a motorcycle in dowry. Police, on getting information about the incident from the villagers, exhumed the body on May 31, 2020, and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A named FIR has been lodged by Bahoranpur police outpost against the deceased’s husband Dhanji Bind and in-laws including brother-in-law Amit Bind, mother-in-law Bhagesari Devi, brother-in-law (devar) Rahul Kumar Bind and sister-in-law (gotani) Munni Devi on the statement her father Sarayu Bind of village Kajipur under Simari police station in Buxar district. Police are investigating into the incident.
SHO, Bahoranpur police outpost, Maish Kumar, quoting the FIR, said that Rita Devi, daughter of Sarayu Bind of Kajipur village under Simari police station in Buxar district, was married to Dhanji Bind, son of late Mulki Bind, in 2016 and was ever since being tortured by her in-laws for a motorcycle. When their demand was not fulfilled, they allegedly killed Rita Devi and also buried her body in the sand on the bank of river Ganga to erase evidence, the SHO said. He said that the in-laws had dragged Rita Devi out of the house for the same reason a year ago but the matter was sorted out at the village panchayat.
Sarayu Bind said that he got information on mobile on May 29, 2020, that a brutal incident had taken place at the house of his daughter. He immediately rushed to Gaura village but found the house locked. He added that he did not get information about his daughter either. Meanwhile, police exhumed the body of his daughter from the sand on the bank of river Gangat at the village, he said.
