Ara : A woman was allegedly killed for dowry at Dudhghat under Shahpur police station (PS) in BHojpur District in South Bihar on October 30, 2021. The in-laws performed the last rites around midnight the same day to erase evidence. A named FIR was lodged by Shahpur PS against her husband and in-laws on the statement of her father of the deceased.
Police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the named accused. The deceased was identified as Seema Devi, wife of Sanjeev Chaudhary of Dudhghat under Shahpur police station.
SHO, Shahpur PS, Nityanand Sharma, quoting the FIR, said that Seema Devi, daughter of Lal Babu Bind of Balia district in Uttar Pradesh, was married to Sanjeev Chaudhary, son of Mantan Chaudhary of Dudhghat under Shahpur police station on May 12, 2020. Her father was informed on October 28, 2021, that Seema Devi was undergoing treatment at Shahpur Referral Hospital. Later, she was referred to Ara Sadar Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Her in-laws performed the last rites before arrival of her parents.
