Woman killed for dowry at Bhojpur village

Ara : Poonam Devi was poisoned to death allegedly by her in-laws at village Kalyanpur  under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district on May 26, 2018, night, for dowry. The accused escaped after the incident.

Police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A named FIR has been lodged with Charpokhari police station against four persons including husband of the deceased on the statement of her father but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

SHO, Charpokhari police station, said Sonu Singh, son of Ramesh Singh of Kalyanpur village under Charpokhari police station, was married to Poonam Devi, daughter of Rohan Yadav of village Shakari under Arwal police station in Arwal district, in 2016 and ever since she was being tortured by her in-laws for dowry. When their demands were not fulfilled, they allegedly poisoned her to death, the SHO said.
