Ara : A married woman Puja Devi was strangulated to death allegedly by her in-laws at village Sewatha under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district for a motorcycle, a gold chain and Rs 50,000 in cash. All the culprits escaped from the village after her murder.

A named FIR was lodged with Sahar police station but no arrest has so far been made in this regard though police are conducting raids to arrest the culprits.

SHO, Sahar police station, said that Puja Devi of village Khanet under Pawana police station was married to Gopal Singh of village Madfarpur under Sahar police station on July 7, 2016. She along with her husband and in-laws had come to her husband’s maternal grandfather’s place  to celebrate Chhath.

Simpu Devi, mother of Puja, alleged that her in-laws were demanding a motorcycle, a gold chain and Rs 50,000 cash and tortured her both physically and mentally for it and when their demands were not fulfilled, they strangulated her to death.
