Ara : A woman was strangulated to death allegedly by her in-laws at village Dhamwal under Bahoranpur police outpost (OP) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar for a motorcycle in dowry and also opposing illicit relation of her husband with another woman.
Police recovered the body from the outskirts of the village and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. An FIR has been lodged with police in this connection and they are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the accused. The deceased was identified as Madhu Devi, 20, wife of Mahesh Gond of village Dhamwal. She had no issue .
SHO Bahoranpur OP, quoting the FIR, said that Madhu Devi, daughter of Ajay Kumar of village Sondhila in neighbouring Buxar District was married to Mahesh Gond of Dhamwal in 2017 and ever since her in-laws were allegedly torturing her for a bullet motorcycle. He also said that Mahesh Gond had an illicit relation with another woman, a close relative, which she opposed that infuriated him all the more and at last he with the help of his family members strangulated her to death with a rope and threw the body on the outskirts of the village.
Ajay Kumar, father of the deceased, said that fed up with day to day torture, Madhu Devi lived with him for about six months but later Mahesh Gond took her to his village. He said that Mahesh Gond is a ‘munshi’ at a post office at village Kakila under Jagdishpur police station and lived with his wife and sister-in-law (bhabhi) at a rented house.
