Woman deserts her newborn child at Sadar Hospital, Ara

Ara : A woman deserted her newborn male child at Sadar Hospital, Ara, on October 12, 2018. The employees of the Sadar Hospital admitted the newborn child to the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit.

Dr Satish Kumar Sinha, Superintendent, Sadar Hospital, said that a pregnant but unmarried girl along with her mother came to the hospital on October 12 morning and she was admitted to the maternity ward of the hospital where she gave birth to a male child. He said that soon after his birth, the girl and her mother fled away from the hospital deserting the newborn child.

Dr Sinha said that the child was admitted to the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit on the campus of the Sadar Hospital and added that the child was fine. He said that the Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), has been informed as no one has claimed the child and one Mamta Didi has been deputed for the care of the child in the hospital.

Chairperson, CWC, Sunita Kumari said that she would take care of the child after completing all the formalities.
