Ara : A married woman committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling of her room at her house at Shahpur under the same police station in Bhojpur District on February 23, 2020, late night. The deceased was identified as Pooja Kumari, 30, wife of Paras Nath Ram.
Police, which brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, recovered a suicide note from the room. An FIR has been lodged by Shahpur police station in this regard and police are investigating into the incident. Family dispute is said to be the reason behind the suicide.
SHO, Shahpur police station, said that Pooja Kumari of Dariyapur under Ara Muffasil police station was married to Paras Nath Ram of Shahpur in 2007 and had three children with him. Her husband works outside Bihar and Pooja Kumari lived with her in-laws at Shahpur. He said that the deceased hanged herself to the ceiling of the room at her house and committed suicide.
On February 24 morning on Monday, when the door of her room was not opened, the family members knocked several times and when they did not get any response, they broke open the room and saw the body hanging to the ceiling, the SHO said. They informed police, who rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The SHO said that the deceased had written a suicide note before committing suicide. She apologised to her husband for taking the extreme step and accused her father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sisters-in-law of torturing her in his absence.
