Saharsa : Bihar CM and JD(U) national President Nitish Kumar on November 21, 2018, said that he believes in doing development works at ground level.
Addressing the extremely backward class conference organised by the JD(U) at Patel Maidan, Saharsa, Nitish said that with electricity made available to all the households across the state, the lantern era has ended. He thanked Bihar Energy Minister Vijendra Praszad Yadav for this. Nitish said that production of paddy and Maize had increased manifold in the state. He said that his government has brought the extremely backwards classes into the mainstream of the society.
Addressing the gathering, Nitish said that his government was running several schemes for the empowerment of girls as the society can’t without their progress. He said that with the girls reaching schools by cycles, the education scenario had changed in the state. The CM said that 96 lakh families had been linked with the Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. Reservation has also been provided in the judiciary, Nitish said.
Minor Irrigation and Disaster Management Minister Dinesh Chandra Yadav, Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Ramesh Rishidev, Ratnesh Sada, MLA, former MPs Ramendra Kumar Yadav ‘Ravi’ and Suryanarayan Yadav, former Minister Narendra N Yadav, former MLAs Gunjeshswar Sah and Arun Yadav, former MLC Sanjay Jha, and Lakhan Thakur were prominent among those addressing the gathering on the occasion. Naya Bazaar resident and youth leader Ghanshyam Chaudhary joined the JD(U) with hundreds of his supporters in the presence of CM Nitish Kumar. Saharsa District JD(U) President Chandra Dev Mukhia conducted the meeting.
Some people demanding establishment of AIIMS at Saharsa were seen waving black flags at the meeting venue on November 21. Police took a youth leader under their custody in this connection and took him to Sadar police station, Saharsa, leading to a high voltage drama for his release. The arrested youth had not been released till late evening.
