Ara : Shanti Kuer, 50, a widow, was strangulated to death at village Kasap under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district in the wee hour on Tjune 29, 2017, when she was sleeping in her room. Property dispute is said to be the cause behind her murder.
Police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A named FIR has been lodged with Udwantnagar police station against three persons on the statement of deceased’s son Raju alias Manoranjan and police arrested one of the named accused Nawneet Singh.
SHO, Udwantnagar police station,Vijay Kumar Singh, said that Shanti Kuer, wife of late Chandra Prakash Singh, was living at her house along with her son Raju alias Manoranjan and daughter-in-law Mamta Devi. Three persons entered the house in the wee hours on June 29 and strangulated Shanti Devi to death. When the incident took place, Mamta Devi was in the bathroom and Raju was in his room upstairs.
SHO Singh said that Chandra Prakash Singh, who died 10 years ago due to illness, had five brothers and all the property was divided among them with mutual understanding. Families of Uday Pratap Singh and Chandra Prakash Singh lived together while families of Ram Pratap Singh, Shashi Ranjan Singh, Ranjan Singh and Sunil Kumar Singh lived together.
Deceased’s son Raju alias Manoranjan said that despite distribution of property among the brothers equally, a dispute was going on among them for the last three years. On June 29, Shashi Ranjan Singh, Ram Pratap Singh and Navneet Kumar entered the house and killed his mother, he alleged.
