Patna : Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took a hat-trick as India reduced West India (WI) 87/7 in 33 overs in their first innings at stumps on Day 2 in the 3rd test at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica, after August 31, 2019, mid-night. Bumrah took 6/16 in 9.1 overs while Mohammad Shami took 1/19 in 8 overs. WI trail by 329 runs.

Bumrah, who had taken 5/7 in 8 overs in WI’s second innings in the 1st test, rocked them again in a devastating spell of fast bowling. WI lost their first five wickets for just 22 with Bumrah taking all the wickets. Bumrah had, in fact, reduced WI to 13/4 in just 8.4 overs.

Opener Kraigg Bratwaite and John Campbell fell to Bumrah for 10 and 2 runs respectively. Darren Bravo fell to Bumrah for 4 while Shamarh Brooks fell to the same bowler for zero. Roston Chase also fell to Bumrah for a duck.  Shimron Hetmyer was the top scorer for WI with 34 runs while captain Jason Holder scored 18. Hetmyer fell to Shami while Holder fell to Bumrah. Hetmyer and Holder added 45 runs for the 6th wicket.

Earlier, India were all out for 416 in their first innings with Hanuma Vihari scoring 111 in 225 balls hitting 16 fours while fast bowler Ishant Sharma made 57 in 80 balls with 7 fours.Vihari and Ishant added 112 runs for the 8th wicket. Ishant fell to Kraigg Brathwaite making it 414/8. Mohammad Shami fell to spinner Rahkeem Cornwall for a duck making 416/9. Vihari also fell on the same score to fast bowler Jason Holder.

For WI, Jason Holder took 5/77 in 32.1 overs while spinner Cornwal took 3/105 in 41 overs. Kemar Roach took 1/77 in 30 overs while Kraigg Bratwaite took 1/8 in 2 overs. WI had won the toss but opted to bowl.
