WI 189/8 in 1st innings of 1st Test against India, Ishant Sharma takes 5/42

Patna : West Indies (WI) were 189/8 at stumps on Day 2 in their first innings in the 1st Test against India at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on August 23, 2019, night, with Roston Chase scoring 48, Shimron Hetmyer 35 and Shai Hope (wk) 24. At sumps, captain Jason Holder was unbeaten on 10 while Miguel Cummins was yet to open his account.

Ishant Sharma took 5/42 in 13 overs in a devastating spell of fast bowling while Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and spinner Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each. Sharma took the wickets of  Kraigg Bratwaite (14), Roston Chase, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Kemarch Roach (0). Opener John Campbell fell to Shami for 23 while Darren Bravo fell to Bumrah for 18. Shamarh Brooks fell to Jadeja for 11.

Earlier, India were all out for 297 in their first innings with Ajinkya Rahane scoring 81, Lokesh Rahul 44, Hanuma Vihari 32, Rishabh Pant 24, Ravindra Jadeja 58, and Ishant Sharma 19.
