Patna : Eighteen wickets fell on day 2 of the first cricket test between England and West Indies (WI) at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on January 24, 2019, with the former getting all out for a paltry 77 and the latter losing their 6 wickets in the second innings.
West Indies are leading by 339 runs in the match with 4 wickets in hand. WI were 127/6 in their second innings with openers Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell, who is makings his test debut, scoring 24 and 33 runs respectively and Shimron Hetmyer 31. Wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich was unbeaten on 24 and captain Jason Holder was batting on 7 at stumps on day 2. Moeen Ali took 3/41 while Ben Stokes took 2/31.
Earlier, England were bundled out for just 77 runs in 30.2 overs in their first innings with opener Keaton Jennings being the top scorer with 17 while Sam Curran scored 14. Captain Joe Root fell to Jason Holder for 4 while all-rounder Ben Stokes fell to fast bowler Kemar Roach for duck. Moeen Ali also fell to Kemar Roach for zero. Jos Buttler too fel to Roach for 4.
For West Indies, Kemar Roach took 5/17 in 11 overs while Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets each. Shannon Gabriel took 1/15 in 7 overs.
West Indies were all out for 289 in their first innings losing their last two wickets in the first session of the play on day 2. Shimron Hetmyer scored 81 while Shai Hope made 57. Openers Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell scored 40 and 44 runs respectively while Roston Chase made 54.
For England, James Anderson took 5/46 in 30 overs while Ben Stokes took 4/ 59 in 25.3 overs. Moeen Ali took one wicket.
