Patna : West Indies (WI) were 124/8 in 42 overs in their first innings at stumps on Day 2 in the 2nd test against New Zealand (NZ) at Basin Reserve, Wellington, NZ, on December 12, 2020, as fast medium bowler Kyle Jamieson, 25, took 5/34 in 13 overs and medium fast bowler Tim Southee, 32, took 3/29 in 16 overs.
Replying to NZ’s 460 all out in 114 overs in their first innings earlier on Day 2, WI lost their first wicket that of opener Kraigg Brathwaite with no run on board. Brathwaite fell to Tim Southee for a duck. Darren Bravo also fell to Southee for 7 making it 22/2. Opener John Campbell fell to Kyle Jamieson for 14 and it was 29/3. Roston Chae also fell to fell to Jamieson for zero making it 29/4.
Shamarh Brooks fell to Jamieson for 14 and it was 97/5. Brooks and Jermaine Blackwood added 68 runs for the 5th wicket. Blackwood fell to Southee for 69 in 92 balls with 11 fours and it was 111/6. Captain Jason Holder fell to Jamieson for 9 and it was 117/7. Alzarri Joseph fell to Jamieson for a duck and it was 117/8.
Earlier resuming at their overnight score of 294/6, NZ were all out for 460 in their first innings with Henry Nicholls scoring 174, his 6th test century, while fast medium bowler Neil Wagner scored an unbeaten 66 in 42 balls hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. WI fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shannon Gabriel took three wickets each while fast bowler Chemar Holder took 2/110. Roston Chase took 2/54.
