Patna : West Indies scored a competitive 283/9 in 50 overs against India in the 3rd ODI at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, riding on 95 by Shai Hope, 40 by spinner Ashley Nurse, and 37 by hard-hitting Shimron Hetmyer. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, who along with Jasprit Bumrah returned to the ODI squad in this match, proved to be the most expensive bowler leaking away 70 runs in his 10 overs including 21 in his last over. Bumrah, on the other hand, took 4/35 in his 10 overs. India won the toss but opted to bowl.
Shai Hope, who had scored an unbeaten 123 in the 2nd ODI, again stood tall scoring 95 in 113 ball with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Bumrah bowled him with a beautiful yorker. Hetmyer hit 3 sixes and 2 fours in his 37 while Ashley Nurse hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in his 40 in 22 ball. Captain Jason Holder made 32 with 2 fours and a six. Fast bowler Kemar Roach remained 15 not out with a six and a four. Nurse and Roach added 56 run for the 9th wicket. Open Kieran Powell made 21 with 2 fours and a six. His opening partner Chandrapaul Hemraj also hit 2 fours and a six in his 15.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav took 2/52 in 10 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal took 1/56 while K Khaleel Ahmad took 1/65. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took 1/70.
