Patna : Electing to bat after winning the toss, West Indies were 246/6 at stump on day 1 against Sri Lanka in the first test at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, on June 6, 2018, riding on an unbeaten 46 from wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich with 5 fours and handy contributions from Kieran Powell (38), Shai Hope (44), Roston Chase (38), and  Captain Jason Holder (40).

Powell hit 6 fours in his 68 ball 38 while Hope hit 9 fours in hs 70 ball 44. Chase hit 5 fours in his 38 while Holder hit 4 fours in his 80 ball 40. Hope and Roston Chase were involved in a 54 run patnership for the fourth wicket while Dowrich and Holder were involved in a 90 run stand for the 6th wicket. West Indies lost their first wicket at 4 opener Kraigh Brathwaite fell to Suranga Lakmal for 3. Devon Smith was run out for 7 when the score was 40.

For Sri Lanka, right arm fast medium bowler Lahiru Kumara, 21, took 3/57 while Lakmal took 1/38. Veteran spinner Rangana Herath took 1/41.
