Motihari : A special investigation team of East Champaran police headed by SDPO, Chakiya, Shailendra Kumar, on August 10, 2020,
arrested a wanted criminal Sumit Kumar alias Rajtilak, 24, from village Jahingara under Pipra police station.
Wanted in 22 criminal cases including murder, loot, and extortion in East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Muzaffapur districts in north Bihar, Rajtilak was evading arrest since 2016. He was prime accused in Bablu Dubey, a terror of North Bihar and Nepal, murder case. Bablu Dubey was shot dead on Bettiah Court campus on May 11 ,2017.
East Champaran SP Navin Chandra Jha talking to newsmen on August 11, 2020, said that police recovered two pistols, two countrymade pistols, 11 live cartridges, and 1 kg Charas from his possession. Four members of Rajtilak gang : Ram Kumar Tiwari, 48 , ex mukhiya of Jahingara panchayat, and his two sons: Santosh, and Radheyshyam, and Chhotu Singh, 27, of Tajiyapur, were also arrested by police and sent to jail on August 11, 2020. Ram Kumar Tiwari, ex Mukhiya, is a murder case convict and is on bail.
It may be recalled here that East Champaran police had arrested a wanted criminal Awadhesh Sah, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, on July 22, 2020. He was accused in a double murder and had created terror under Ghorasahan police station areas on Indo-Nepal border.
