Sitamarhi : Torrential rain for the last four days in north Bihar claimed the life of three children in Sitamarhi District on July 2, 2021, at village Islampur under Riga Block as the wall of their their house collapsed on them.
Md. Hasim Sah’s three children : Jainav Khatoon, 9, Enayat, 6, and Faizan, 4, lost their lives in wall collapse leaving their mother wailing.The villagers took the bodies out of the debris. Their father has gone to Punjab to earn livelihood for the family.
All major rivers including Bagmati, Lalbakeya, Lakhandei, Jhim, Marar, Hardi, and Adhawara group of rivers are flowing above danger mark in Sitamarhi District posing threats to embankments. The district administration has initiated round the clock vigil on several embankments. Sitamarhi DM Sunil Kumar Yadav has visited many embankments in the last couple of days.
Meanwhile, road traffic between Sitamarhi-Sursand has been disrupted as the water of Adhawara group rivers’ has overtopped the NH 104 near village Kumma caused hardship to the people particularly daily commuters. This road also connects Janakpur Dham in Nepal.
