Ara : Teaching remained paralysed in the constituent colleges under Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, as almost all the non-teaching employees of all the 17 constituent colleges and the university headquarters proceeded on an indefinite strike on November 3, 2017, at the call of Bihar State University and College Employees Association (BSUCEA), to press their 13 point demand.

The non-teaching employees sat on dharana in their respective colleges in Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur district and also on the campus of the VKSU and raised slogans against the university administration. They said their agitation will continue till their demands were conceded.

Chitranjan Singh, president, BSUCEA, VKSU, said that the VKSU administration always deceived the employees with false promises. He said whenever they proceeded on strike to press their genuine demands, the VKSU administration promised to fulfil them but never issued notification in this regard. He said this time the agitation would continue till the VKSU administration issues notification fulfilling their demands. Their demands include regularisation of their services, regular and full payment of salary on time, promotion of employees in different colleges on the basis of a seniority list prepared by Vimal Prasad Singh, immediate rectification in confirmation of services of the employees, and election of Senate at the earliest.
