Ara : Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, administration has convened the meeting of the Senate on February 28, 2019, and elaborate arrangements have been made for the peaceful conduct of the meeting. The VKSU administration has held several rounds of meeting with the officials of the Bhojpur district administration to prevent disturbance by different student organisations during the Senate meetings. The office of the Governor has directed the VKSU administration to hold the meeting peacefully. The VKSU administration may organise the Senate meeting outside Ara this time.

The VKSU administration had convened meeting of the Senate on January 23, 2019, in which the elections of the Syndicate members of the VKSU, Finance Committee were scheduled for and a deficit budget of about for the financial year of 2019-2020 was to be passed. But, the meeting had to be postponed due to aggressive protest by the different student organisations to press  their demands.

District Coordinator, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Raj Pandey, Student Union President, VKSU, Amit Kumar Singh, District President, National Student Union of India, Manish Singh Duldul, District President, All India Student Association, Pappu Kumar, and RJD, student wing, said that they would protest the Senate meeting this time too and their agitation would continue till the VKSU mends its way. The student leaders alleged that the VKSU embezzled and misused the money collected from students and never tabled budget keeping the interest of students in mind. They blamed that the officials of the VKSU are interested only in getting the budget passed by the Senate so that their salary could be released.

Acting Vice-Chancellor, VKSU, Nand Kishor Sah said that venue for the Senate meeting has been fixed and efforts are being made to hold the meeting peacefully. He also appealed the student leaders to cooperate in conduct of the Senate meeting. Sah said that if the Senate meeting was not held and budget not passed, development of the VKSU would be adversely affected and payment of salary to the teachers and non-teaching employees of the university could be affected.
