Patna : Murder of a youth Diwakar Kumar, son of Rajendra Sao, triggered violence at Biharsharif, headquarters of Nalanda district, on July 6, 2018. More than a dozen police personnel were injured in mob violence which erupted after Diwakar Kumar was shot dead by some unidentified persons when he reached Mahalpar in Khairabad locality under Biharsharif police station on his bike.
The mob suspecting one Rajnikant Kumar to be behind the murder thrashed him injuring him seriously in Khairabad colony. Apart from injuring 12 to 13 police personnels by pelting them with stones as well as brickbatting, the mob also set ablaze 3 bikes. Rajnikant was admitted to a hospital. Police arrested 9 persons in connection with the violence.
Nalanda SP Sudhir Kumar Podika, a 2010 batch IPS officer, said that police were identifying the persons who indulged in violence including brickbatting.
