Villagers set ablaze police jeep after murder of youth

Ara : Hundreds of villagers went on rampage on January 29 afternoon at Ekwari village under Sahar Police Station in Bhojpur district after the police.recovered body of a youth from a well. The irate villagers blocked Ara – Sahar main road with the body and when police tried to remove blockade the villagers set ablaze a police jeep.
SHO, Sahar Police Station, said that Sunil Kumar of Balrampur village in Buxar district lived with his maternal uncle at Ekwari village under Sahar Police Station. He disappeared from the house on January 28 and his body was found in the well of the village.  Villagers said that an FIR was lodged with Sahar police station but the police remained inactive. They held the police responsible for the murder of the youth.
The villagers clashed with police and also pelted them with stones. Senior officials of the district rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. They assured to arrest the culprit at the earliest. Later, police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
