Ara : Hundreds of residents of Karishath, Bibiganj, Paithanpur and other villages in Bhojpur district paralysed movement of trains on Up and Down lines for about three hours by squatting on railway track at Karisath railway station under Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) on June 21, 2017, in protest against non- availability of power for the last several days.
The villagers reached Karisath Railway station in a procession and squatted on the railway track paralysing the movement of trains. They were raising slogans against the officials of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL). A number of long distance trains remained stranded on different railway stations.
The protesters also blocked the Ara-Sasaram, Ara-Buxar main road near Bibiganj for restoration of power. The villagers said that power was not being supplied to at least 30 villages for the last one fortnight.
