Bettiah : An irate mob of villagers blocked Inarwa -Mainatand road on March 24, 2017, paralysing traffic for hours to demand immediate arrest of persons involved in killing of Amresh Giri, former Mukhia of Inarwa panchayat under Mainatand block under Narakatiaganj sub- division in West Champaran district on March 23.
Police restored mild lathicharge in which an half dozen people including Santosh Giri, Chandesh Raut, Samsul Mian, Dhiraj Kumar and others received injuries and admitted to Primary health centre (PHC), Mainatand. Road communication was, however, was restored after the officials pacified the protestors. Sources said that in a land dispute, Amresh Giri was shot dead and two others : Anjani Kumar and Ashwini kumar were seriously injured and referred to Patna medical college hospital (PMCH) from Bettiah Sadar hospital.
Inarwa police station SHO Rajkumar Prasad said that one of the relatives of deceased and Sarpanch of Inarwa panchayat Umesh Giri and his associates were named accused in the murder case. West Champaran SP Vinay Kumar said that the village is located on Nepal border and the accused had sneaked into Nepal. Police are trying their best to arrest the culprits with the help from Nepal police.
