Ara : Irate villagers blocked Ara-Buxar main road near Paswan Chowk under Udwantnagar police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar with a body paralysing movement of vehicles for three hours on October 6, 2021. They burnt tyres and raised slogans against the district administration. They were demanding arrest of killers of Sonu Paswan, 32, son of Basant Paswan of Chowkipur village under Gajrajganj police outpost, at the earliest and compensation of Rs 10 lakh to his next of kin. They also damaged windowpane of an ambulance but the driver escaped form the scene to save himself.
Some armed miscreants had shot dead Sonu Paswan from point blank range and also injured Anil Chaudhary, 34, son of Nathuni Chaudhary of the same village, near Jagjiwan Halt under Udwantnagar PS, both drivers, on October 5, 2021, late evening. Police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem and admitted the injured there. The doctor referred the injured to Patna Medical College and Hospital in view of his precarious condition but his family members took him to a private hospital at Ara. An FIR has been lodged with Udwantnagar PS in this connection and police are investigating the matter. miscreants.
Anil Chaudhary said that he and Sonu Paswan were walking at Jagjiwan Halt when four armed miscreants came and fired indiscriminately on Sonu Paswan killing him on the spot. When he interfered and tried to rescue him, the miscreants also shot at him and injured him.
Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari said that the miscreants had been identified and police were conducting raids to arrest them. The SP added that he was talking with the family members of the deceased and has taken initiative towards compensation.
