Ara : Hundreds of villagers blocked Ara-Buxar main road near Shahpur in Bhojpur district on July 5, 2020, for about two hours with the body of a man who died allegedly after a quack administered an injection to him at Shahpur. The protesters went on rampage, burnt tyres and paralysed movement of vehicles on the road. They also raised slogans against Bhojpur district administration and demanded compensation to next of kin of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive response from the police officials.
The deceased was identified as Mangaru Paswan son of Chhotak Paswan alias Panna Lal Paswan of Ratanpura village under Shahpur police station. Police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
SHO, Shahpur police station, said that Mangaru Paswan had gone to Ashok Medicao Agency at Shahpur from his village Ratanpura to take medicine for himself. The owner of the medical shop Babloo, allegedly a quack, administered Mangaru Paswan an injection after which he fell on the ground and died on the spot. The owner of the medical shop downed the shutter and escaped from the spot after the death of the youth.
As the news of Mangaru’s sudden demise reached his village, the villagers lost control and went on rampage. They damaged the shop and blocked Ara-Buxar main road.
It may be mentioned here that the Drug Inspector had sealed and cancelled the license of the Ashok Medico Agency in 2016 for the same reason but Babloo succeeded in getting the llicense of the shop renewed immediately.
