Ara : Around a dozen police personnel including lady constables were injured in stone pelting when they went to village Bharauli under Shahpur police station in Bhojpur district on July 26, 2019, to remove encroachment following the direction of Patna High Court.
The injured police personnel were admitted to the Referral Hospital at Shahpur. But, the doctor there referred two police personnel Amit Kumar and Shatrughn Kumar to Ara Sadar Hospital as they had sustained serious injury. The injured police personnel included Amit Kumar, Shatrughn Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Pashupati Tiwari, Kameshwar Prasad, Girijanandan, Jaideo Kumar, Lal Ji Pandey, Madhu Priya, Priya Kumari, Vandana Kumari.
A police force led by Block Development Officer, Sunil Kumar, and the SHO, Shahpur police station, Deep Narayan Singh, had gone to village Bharauli to remove encroachment there but they had to face the ire of the locals. As police force tried to remove encroachment, hundreds of villagers gathered there protested anti-encroachment drive. They also pelted cops with stones forcing them to retreat. Senior police officers also rushed to the hospital to see the injured police personnel and said that stern action would be taken against the persons involved in attack on police force
