Sitamarhi:  Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on February  17, 2017, announced that village Bagahi in Sitamarhi district will be
developed as religious tourist spot in consultation with villagers and all the stakeholders. This can also be included in the proposed Ramayan circuit, said CM Nitish Kumar adding the village would be named now as Bagahi Dham.

Bagahi is located 10 km north-west from district headquarters Sitamarhi. The pilgrims and devotees include those from India and Nepal. Nepal is 15 km away from Bagahi.

Nitish also glorified the role of religious thinkers, philosophers and saints who did not support liquor consumption for good moral character. The CM said that the prohibition was enforced in Bihar in April 2016 for social and health reasons. Nitish lamented the cases of liquor smuggling in the border areas. None will be spared, he said on February 17 while inaugurating the ten-day Sita Ram Nam Jap Mahayajna to mark the centenary celebrations of Tapaswi Shree Narayan Dasji Maharaj at village Bagahi under Riga block. He addressed an impressive religious gathering and glorified the works of late saint Shree Narayan Dasji Maharaj.

State Water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh, MLC Devesh Chandra Thakur and Sukhdev Dasji were prominent among those addressing the function. RJD national president and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad is likely to visit on February 18.
