Patna : Senior BJP leader Vijay Rupani, 61,  was on December 26, 2017, sworn in as the chief minister of Gujarat for the second consecutive term at a cremony at Gandhinagar.
Rupani and his deputy Nitin Patel were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Gujarat Governor O P Kohli. PM Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and chief ministers of different BJP-ruled states attended the ceremony.

The BJP has 99 Members in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly, 16 fewer than its 2012 tally of 115. The Congress, which had won 61 seats in 2012, has increased its tally to 77 in 2017. The strength of the Congress and its allies in the House is 80.
