Patna : World No 8 Karolina Pliskova, 26. Czech Republic, World No 11 Anastasija Sevastova, 28, Latvia,  World No 20 Anett Kontaveit, 23, Estonia, and World No 34 Donna Vekic, 22, Criatia,  entered the quarter-finals of Brisbane International, a hard court tennis tournament, on January 2, 2018.

Kontaveit beat two-time former Wimbledon champion and World No 7 Petra Kvitová, 28, Czech Republic, in a tough contest 7-5, 7-6 in the Round of 16.
