Patna : World No 8 Karolina Pliskova, 26. Czech Republic, World No 11 Anastasija Sevastova, 28, Latvia,  World No 20 Anett Kontaveit, 23, Estonia, and World No 34 Donna Vekic, 22, Criatia,  entered the quarter-finals of Brisbane International, a hard court tennis tournament, on January 2, 2018.

Pliskova beat World N0 139 Marie Bouzkova, 20, Czech Republic, 7-5, 6-2 in the Round of 16 firing 3 Aces. Pliskova also won 5 break points to 2 by Bouzkova. She also won 4 games in a row to 3 by Bouzkova.

Sevastova beat World No 149 Harriet Dart, 22, UK, 6-2, 6-0 in the Round of 16 winning 5 break points. She served 3 Aces to 2 by Dart. Sevastova won 10 games in a row in the match.

Kontaveit beat two-time former Wimbledon champion and World No 7 Petra Kvitová, 28, Czech Republic, in a tough contest 7-5, 7-6 in the Round of 16. Kvitova fired 5 Aces in the match but also committed 7 double faults. Kontaveit won 3 break points to 2 by Kvitová. Both the players won 3 games each in a row.

Vekic upset World No 9 Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, in a three-set thriller 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 in the Round of 16. Bertens fired 11 Aces in the match to 2 by Vekic. Vekic committed 8 double faults to 6 by Bertens. Vekic won 4 break points while Bertens won 5. Bertens won 5 games in a row to 3 by Vekic.
