Motihari :  A pickup  van carrying chilli was looted at gun point on Monday  evening  near  village Belawa on Muzaffarpur-Lucknow NH28 under Kotawa police station in East Champaran district. The criminals sped away with the pickup van towards Gopalganj after throwing the driver and assistant driver  on roadside.

A case was lodged with Kotawa police station and police are investigating the case. Bhawnath Kumar, SHO, Kotawa police station said that the pickup van  loaded with chilli was coming from Ghorasahan in EastChamparan en route  Siwan. When the van was approaching Kotawa, a Bolero jeep overtook it and asked the driver to stop it. Two armed
criminals  then attacked the driver and other staff and tied their hands with rope  and threw them  on roadside and escaped with looted van. Chunnu Thakur , driver of the van, was rescued by some passersby and he lodged a case with police.

Loot of trucks and other vehicles has become very common between Kanti and Dumariyaghat  on NH28. According to police sources, 25 truck looters were arrested  by East Champaran police from neighboring districts and looted trucks were recovered  in last one year. The gang leader of truck looters has also been arrested from Kanti in Muzaffarpur district but  the incidents of truck loot continue.
