Saharsa : A truck driver of Kannauj, UP, Raju, on May 4, 2017, lodged an FIR with Sadar police station, Saharsa, alleging that former Saharsa MLA  Alok Ranjan and his brother Vivek Vishal had demanded a Rangdari `extortion amount’ of Rs 1 lakh from him after he parked the truck on the Alok Ranjan petrol pump campus on May 3, 2017, evening.

The truck driver alleged that he reached Alok Ranjan petrol pump located at Kahra Kuti for refuelling ( diesel) on May 3 evening but the pump owner Vivek Vishal told the manager that since the truck was from outside Bihar an additional Rs 500 be charged from the driver for parking the vehicle on the petrol pump campus. Hearing this, he parked his vehicle there after moving it slightly back, Raju said alleging that this infuriated the petrol pump manager who not only abused him but also took out the key, licence and Rs 10,000 cash from the truck and asked for Rs 1 lakh to release the truck.

But, former legislator Alok Ranjan strongly denied the allegations levelled by the truck driver against him and his brother Vivek. He said that the truck driver had rammed a board installed at the petrol pump after which the manager had demanded compensation from him. The question of demanding Rangdari from the truck driver does not arise, Alok Ranjan said. SHO, Sadar police station, Bhai Bharat, said that appropriate action would be taken after investigation into the incident.
